Celebrate People Why They Are Alive

It was Norman Counsin that said: The tragedy in life is not that we die , but what dies inside us while we live.
I love the Patoranking Song *Celebrate Me While I dey Alive*. It is a synopsis of the hypothesis and hypocrisy of man to man .
As Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association Benin Branch, I had the privilege of handling ceremonies all across Benin City , Nigeria and beyond as a compere. Some were celebration of milestones like birthdays, marriages, while some were solemn burials .
I found the burials very confounding. As when you die, people who never knew you, would show up to signal your passage to the great beyond. I was moved to tears when a very influential man’s dead body was to be taken to the dias and his closest friends refused to carry his dead body. We had to look for people we could talk to who respect us, to get them to move the body to the dias. This was a man that assisted many of their children to get admissions in choice courses in a particular University he had influence. But, when he died, they never wanted to be associated with him. This was a profound lesson, that shows that the living easily forget the dead.
Some People tend to hate you while you alive and show you love when you die. If you told some one you needed Ten thousand naira to feed, chances are that he may not give you, but he will send One thousand to a purse when you die. So, some times, they love you when you die .
Live your life to the fullest while you alive. Eat the chicken,while you alive because you will not be there when they are killing the cows.
Dead men don’t tell tales. When you are dead, it is the story they pin on you that stands. Create your story and glory while you are alive.
Achieve immortality so that your enemies will identify with you when you are dead. That is the sweetest revenge, for you to be dead and to be alive and for them to be alive and be dead. This is because some times you find the living among the dead and the dead among the living .
