COAS Charges New Troops: “Uphold Loyalty, Discipline, and Professionalism”
Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Special Guest of Honour and Reviewing Officer, addressed the parade with a strong message of duty and resilience:
“Your successful training reflects hard work, dedication, and discipline. You have been moulded to meet the highest standards of soldiering and are now entrusted with the sacred duty of safeguarding the territorial integrity of our nation… Your induction today is not only a boost to our manpower but a reinforcement of our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of every Nigerian.”
Shaibu emphasized the Army’s role in tackling domestic and transnational threats, urging the recruits to serve with “honour, courage, and professionalism.”

From Recruitment to Reality: A Boost for Nigeria’s Security
- Started with ~3,500 applicants in July 2025; 3,439 completed the intensive program.
- These troops join the force amid ongoing operations against insurgency, banditry, and border threats.
- Compared to the 88 Regular Intake (6,195 graduated in June 2025), this batch reinforces manpower amid recruitment drives.
The Depot Nigerian Army, established in 1924, remains the cornerstone of basic soldier training—producing combat-ready professionals for over a century.
As the new soldiers deploy nationwide, the Army reaffirms its commitment to a “professional, combat-ready force.” Congratulations to the 89 RRI graduates—welcome to the ranks!
