Ebonyi Records 367 Gender-Based Violence Cases, Two Deaths in 11 Months
The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Taskforce in Ebonyi State has reported 367 cases of gender-based violence and two fatalities between January and November.
The State Coordinator of the agency, Mrs. Faithvin Nwanchor, disclosed the figures in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abakaliki.
According to Nwanchor, the reported cases include:

Physical assault: 68

Economic abuse: 94

Emotional abuse: 77

Inheritance rights violations: 18

Child abuse: 69

Threats to life: 24
She emphasized, “We recorded a total of 367 GBV cases from January to November, with two deaths.”
The statistics highlight the urgent need for stronger interventions, legal enforcement, and public awareness to address the rising cases of gender-based violence in Ebonyi State.
