The Federal Government of Nigeria has dismissed 38 senior officers, including an Assistant Commandant General, from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for various misconducts.
The dismissals were approved by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board under the Ministry of Interior. Offences cited include gross misconduct, insubordination, and violation of extant laws, according to the NSCDC.
“As directed by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board, disciplinary actions have been taken against some senior officers as recommended by the NSCDC Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee,” said NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi.
“About 38 senior officers, including an Assistant Commandant General, have been dismissed for gross misconduct, insubordination, and acts unbecoming of a superior officer according to Public Service Rules.”
Afolabi also detailed actions against junior personnel. Following the Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee review of 30 cases:

20 junior officers were dismissed

3 personnel were demoted by one rank

7 personnel received warning letters
“In 2025, a total of 76 senior and junior personnel had disciplinary measures imposed to serve as a deterrent to others,” he added.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Audi, reaffirmed the corps’s commitment to revamping and repositioning its operatives through training and retraining, stressing that acts capable of tarnishing the service’s image would not be tolerated.
Prof. Audi also urged all officers and men to remain focused on executing the corps’s statutory mandate with integrity and professionalism.
