$60 World Cup Tickets Confirmed by FIFA After Public Outcry

By Peter.

FIFA has introduced a limited Supporter Entry Tier of tickets priced at a fixed $60 for all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup, including the final, in response to widespread criticism over high pricing.

Announced on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, this new category targets loyal fans of qualified teams, comprising 10% of each national federation’s 8% ticket allocation per match (roughly 1,000–1,600 tickets per game, split between the two teams, depending on stadium size).

The move aims to aid traveling supporters amid “extraordinary global demand,” with over 20 million ticket requests already logged in the current sales phase. FIFA also waived administrative fees for refunds if a team is eliminated before knockout rounds.

However, fan advocacy group Football Supporters Europe (FSE) dismissed the adjustment as insufficient and an “appeasement tactic.” They noted only a few hundred fans per team per match would benefit, while most face significantly higher costs—potentially up to $6,900 to follow a team to the final. FSE criticized the lack of provisions for disabled supporters and companions, as well as rushed pricing without proper consultation.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer echoed the sentiment, welcoming the cheaper options but urging FIFA to “do more” to keep the tournament accessible for genuine fans.

The current Random Selection Draw sales phase, allowing applications for specific matches, remains open until January 13, 2026.
