No fewer than 37 people abducted by bandits in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State have regained their freedom, following a peace agreement with the criminals.

The lawmaker representing Bakori constituency at the Katsina State House of Assembly, Abdulrahman Kandarawa, confirmed the development to newsmen in Katsina on Friday, November 28.

The released victims include 17 women, 18 men, and two children. According to Kandarawa, all known kidnapped individuals from Bakori LGA have now been freed.

“I want to assure you that, at the moment, there are no more victims in the forest from this local government area,” he said. “I am appealing to the people in our communities to maintain the relative peace we are presently enjoying.”

He further explained that the victims were released without payment of ransom, as part of the agreement reached during the dialogue with the bandits.
