Wife of the late former Governor of Ondo State, Betty Akeredolu, has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, of engaging in a campaign to smear her husband’s legacy.
She made the accusation in a post on her verified ‘X’ handle on Wednesday, tagged “Re: Purported Aketi Lecture by Ondo State Government”.
Tagged: “Akeredolu Leadership Lecture Series”, the lecture is planned by the Ondo State Government in honour of the late Governor.
But, the former First Lady accused Aiyedatiwa of using the lecture as an excuse, not to honour her late husband, but to rake public funds into his own pockets.
“You want to pretend by organising one ‘yeye’ lecture for Aketi’s memorial as an entry point to chop money on Aketi’s head,” she wrote.
Betty Akeredolu went further to discredit the lecture, calling it “yeye lecture, yahoo and 419 lecture”, alleging that it was designed to undermine the legacy of her husband.
“Lucky, you are preoccupied with rubbishing Aketi’s legacy; you can’t succeed, anyway,” she wrote.
Betty also claimed that she and her family are unaware of any planned lecture in memory of her late husband, hence it is an attempt to undermine his achievements.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, has in a post on Facebook, invited the general public to attend the event that holds on Friday.
Besides, various broadcast media have also aired jingles of the lecture and circulated on social media platforms.
It would be recalled that following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, after unsuccessful battle with leukemia, his Deputy m, Lucky Aiyedatiwa was sworn-in as Governor.
