Make UNIBEN Citadel of Teaching, Learning, Research, Arase Charges New VC
2 min readPresident of the Benin Consultative Forum (BCF), Dr. Solomon Arase, has charged the newly-appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Prof. Edoba Omoregie, to work hard to up the ranking of the institution as a citadel of teaching, learning and research.
He gave the charge Saturday night at the formal unveiling of Forum and celebration of two of its principal officers, Dr Samson Osagie and Professor Edoba Omoregie, Vice President and Secretary of the Forum respectively.
The former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), described Omoregie’s appointment as the 11th Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, as a testimony to his steadfast commitment to academia and the transformative power of education that heralds an opportunity of intellectual growth and innovation for the Benin nation.
“Being an alumnus of the University of Benin, the new Vice Chancellor is keenly aware that his role is to bolster the ranking of the institution as a citadel of teaching, learning, and research.
“In this regard, we are confident that Prof. Omoregie will summon his skills and talent to rally stakeholders towards the sustenance of an enviable institution,” he said.
The BCF President also described the appointment of Samson Osagie as Edo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice as a glimmer of hope for justice and fairness in the State.
“He brings with him a legacy of integrity and dedication. His stewardship will no doubt uphold the principles of justice, ensuring that the law serves as an instrument of equity and progress,” he said.
Arase stated that the unveiling of the Benin Consultative Forum is a defining moment for the Benin people, a rallying cry for unity, empowerment, and collective progress.
In their remarks, Dr. Osagie and Professor Omoregie both assured of their resolve to deliver on their new assignments for the benefits of Nigerians.
They harped on the need for the people of Benin to come together, nurture ideas, strengthen bonds and work together for a more progressive Edo nation.
