Accidental Discharge From Policeman Celebrating Promotion Kills Woman in Ekiti

An accidental discharge from a yet-to-be-unveiled police officer who was said to be celebrating his promotion has allegedly killed a young woman identified as Ifeoluwa Adekalu.
The incident occurred on Thursday at the Okela Police Station, Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The policeman who is attached to another unit of the State Police Command, was said to be on a visit to the station when he received the promotion news from one of his colleagues.
He reportedly shot the bullets while in a joyous mood, which sadly hit the woman.
When the unfortunate shooting occurred, the exact location of the victim who was said to be a mother of one, was however not clear.
Some had it that the victim was hit in front of a saloon located opposite the police station, while others claimed the deceased had come to the police station to see her husband who was in detention when the incident occurred.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where she died from the gunshot injuries.
The Assignment Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Ekiti State, Adewale Adeniran, Who confirmed the incident, said the officer in question has been disarmed and detained.
