ln line with her commitment to supporting people with disabilities—particularly women and children the Coordinator Office of the First Lady, Mrs Edesili Anani, delivered gift items to Barrister Benedicta Francis, a visually impaired mother who recently gave birth to a baby girl at a private health facility in Benin City.
Barrister Francis lost her sight ten years ago following a brief illness, as confirmed by her biological mother, Mrs. Monica Adams.
Mrs. Anani was represented at the event by Hajia Nimata Ikhilor, wife of the Secretary to the State Government, who conveyed the First Lady’s warm congratulations while presenting the gift items to both mother and child.
“I congratulate you for this bundle of joy bestowed upon you by God. I pray that you and your family are empowered to care for the baby in accordance with the Lord’s guidance, and that the baby becomes a continual source of joy and consolation for your entire family”.
Mrs. Monica Adams, the mother of Barrister Francis, recounted the challenges during delivery: “When we arrived at the hospital, the doctor said the baby had stopped breathing in the womb. They rushed her to the theater for a caesarean section, and by the grace of God, both she and the baby are now in good health.”
Expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Adams added, “Thank you, Your Excellency, for the love and care, and the beautiful gift items. May God Almighty continue to keep and preserve you and our Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo. May his administration remain peaceful and fruitful.”
This visit underscores the Edo State Government’s dedication to repositioning governance and empowering women and people with disabilities, marking a significant milestone in the state’s journey toward a more inclusive and compassionate society.
