Governor Monday Okpebholo arrived Benin City the Edo state capital to a rousing welcome and prayers from the palace after the Edo Election Petition Tribunal affirmed his victory in Last Year’s election in Abuja.
The governor was welcomed by APC Party Faithful, Market women and other various groups at the Benin Airport, while residents trooped out on the streets to welcome the governor back to Benin City.
After the victory parade round parts of Benin metropolis, Governor Monday Okpebholo led his team to pay homage to the Oba of Benin, where he was welcomed with prayers for the success of his administration.
In a rare event, the Benin Monarch Oba Ewuare the second personally laid hands on the governor to pray for him, as against delegating a palace chief, then raised him up, when he paid Homage on the Oba, an event that has not been witnessed in recent times in Benin Kingdom.
Governor Monday Okpebholo informed the Oba that he was at the palace to brief the monarch about the outcome of the Edo Election Petition Tribunal which affirmed his victory as governor.
The Governor thanked the Oba and Edo people for the Love he had received since assuming offices , and assured the monarch that he would continue to give good governance to the people.
Responding, Oba Ewuare the Second thanked the governor for the respect bestowed on the palace and urged him to continue to work hard for the good of the state, while assuring of the Palace prayers and continued support.
Some Benin Residents also bared their minds on the tribunal victory. The residents called on the PDP Candidate in the election Asun Ighodalo to head to the court of appeal if he was not satisfied with the judgement.
