World Health Day: Edesili Anani Advocates Quality Maternal, Newborn Healthcare for Stronger Society

World Health Day, under the inspiring theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator Office of the First Lady, Edo State, emphasized the critical role that quality maternal and newborn healthcare plays in shaping a robust and prosperous society during her visit to Edo Specialist Hospital.

In her remarks, she stated that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right that Governments and individuals must champion, positioning these services as the bedrock of both public health and societal progress.

Mrs. Anani was received by The Managing Director, Edo Specilist Hospital, Dr. Anthonia Njoku and her team.

The Coordinator engaged with healthcare professionals and patients alike, learning about the comprehensive care provided and the well-coordinated management of the hospital.

Her interactions not only highlighted the significant improvements made in healthcare delivery but also showcased how a well-integrated network of support—from administrative leaders to frontline workers—ensures the effective implementation of health policies and practices.

Mrs Anani was impressed by the hospital’s ability to meet the needs of Edo State residents, commended the dedication of the medical staff and the facility’s management.

She re-emphasised Governor Monday Okpebholo commitment and dedication to the continuous improvement of health sector. There is a clear pathway to achieving a healthier future marked by “Healthy Beginnings” that pave the way for “Hopeful Futures.”

Mrs Anani specifically underscored the importance of maternal and newborn health by pointing out that this area is essential for reducing preventable deaths and enhancing community well-being.

Her call to action for healthcare professionals to be meticulous and efficient is part of a broader push to strengthen the network of services that ensure every patient receives the care they need, thereby fostering both immediate health benefits and long-term societal resilience.

The Managing Director, Edo Specialist Hospital, Dr. Anthonia Njoku, appreciated Mrs. Anani for their visit and stated that the entire management team are committed and dedicated to giving patients the necessary treatment and support.
