The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) hereby announces the immediate termination of its contract with New Globe. This decision comes after a series of high-level consultations, including a meeting with representatives of New Globe and thorough deliberations by Board members, secretary to the board and directors, under the leadership of the newly appointed Executive Chairman, Hon. Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia.
The partnership with New Globe, initiated in 2018, was established to support the digital transformation of basic education in Edo State and to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes across primary and junior secondary schools. While the collaboration yielded some early results, recent assessments raised concerns about the alignment of New Globe’s operations with the evolving standards and strategic direction of Edo State’s basic education system.

Following a comprehensive review process, SUBEB’s leadership unanimously concluded that the continuation of the contract was no longer in the best interest of the state’s pupils, teachers, or broader educational goals.
Accordingly, the contract with New Globe is hereby terminated with immediate effect, effective June 2, 2025. All program activities carried out by New Globe in Edo State primary and junior secondary schools are now suspended. A formal letter of disengagement has been issued, duly acknowledged, and signed by the contractor, confirming the cessation of all engagements under the auspices of SUBEB.
In addition, there was an official handing over of the office keys and facilities used by New Globe to the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, marking the formal conclusion of the partnership.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia, expressed appreciation to New Globe for their services over the years and acknowledged their contribution to supporting education in the state during the period of partnership. She reaffirmed the Board’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the delivery of quality, inclusive, and technology-driven education for every child in Edo State.
