Super Eagles standout Ademola Lookman has ignited fresh speculation about his Atalanta future by unfollowing the club on Instagram and scrubbing all team-related posts from his profile—just days after a fiery confrontation with manager Ivan Juric.
The flare-up unfolded during Atalanta’s tense 1-0 Champions League victory over Olympique Marseille on Wednesday evening. Lookman, visibly fuming, clashed with Juric in the 75th minute after being hooked, prompting TV cameras to catch the coach grabbing the Nigerian winger’s arm amid heated words. Staff quickly intervened to calm things down.
Juric brushed off the moment post-match as typical football passion, saying, “It’s something that happens all the time. Some players aren’t happy when they’re substituted. We talk about it in the locker room and move on. What matters most is Atalanta, the team, and the fans.”
At Saturday’s presser, he doubled down, calling it a non-issue that even strengthened their bond: “These things happen. You talk, exchange views, and the rapport becomes even stronger. This isn’t his first rodeo. Last summer, a similar unfollow and training boycott followed Atalanta blocking a €50m switch to Inter Milan. With January transfers looming, the 27-year-old—whose form has dipped this season despite his undeniable talent—could push for a move again. Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly circling, eyeing a Premier League return for the versatile attacker.
