AI Firm Anthropic Commits $50 B to Build Custom Data Centers in Texas & New York”

By Peter.

AI powerhouse Anthropic announced Wednesday a massive $50 billion investment in U.S. data centers, joining the frenzy of tech giants ramping up infrastructure to power next-gen artificial intelligence.

Partnering with infrastructure specialist Fluidstack, the creators of the Claude AI models will roll out custom facilities in Texas and New York, with additional sites slated for future activation.

This aligns with a surge in U.S.-centric expansions among tech firms, spurred by President Donald Trump’s emphasis on bolstering American dominance in AI. In January, Trump directed his team to craft an AI Action Plan positioning “America as the world capital in artificial intelligence.” The initiative gained steam at Trump’s July tech and AI summit, where U.S. companies unveiled hefty commitments in AI and energy.

Anthropic’s rollout is projected to generate 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction roles nationwide as sites activate through 2026. The firm stated the push “will help advance the goals in the Trump administration’s AI Action Plan to maintain American AI leadership and strengthen domestic technology infrastructure.”

Backed by heavyweights like Alphabet (Google’s parent) and Amazon, the San Francisco-based startup—valued at $183 billion as of early September—boasts over 300,000 enterprise clients. Founded in 2021 by ex-OpenAI talent, Anthropic’s Claude models stand out as top-tier frontier LLMs in the market.
