Friends and Associates of Edo State Governor-Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his Deputy, Rt. Hon Dennis Idahosa will storm Benin City for the much awaited Novelty match to usher in the new administration.
The match billed to kick-off by 4pm at Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Sunday is expected to feature players from the political class and ex-internationals.
Disclosing during a media briefing held on Wednesday in Benin City, Hon. Frank Ilaboya, spokesperson of the Organising Committee noted that preparation has reached an advance stage for the November 10th event.
Hon. Ilaboya, fmr Chairman of Edo State Football Association stated further that over ten fmr. internationals as well as political bigwigs are taking part in the round leather match.
The novelty match tagged ‘Akpakomiza and Friends Novelty Match’ will feature the likes of interim manager of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen; legendary Dr. Felix ‘Owoblow’ Owolabi, Mutiu Adepoju; Baldwin Bazuaye; Ambrose Vanzekin; and Tony Emedoefu (Poropo).
Furthermore, Bright Omokaro, Samson Ozogula, Peter Obanor, and Prince Oritsuwa Afejuku. Fmr Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Austine Iyamu; William Enobakhare and Tony Mentie.
However, playing on the side of the incoming governor and his deputy are political heavyweights such as fmr. governor of the state, Senator Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who will lead the others like Edo State All Progressive Party (APC) Chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe and his Secretary, Lawrence Orka.
Also wearing the shirt on match day are fmr. governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu, fmr Senator, Pharmacist Matthew Uroghide and Gen. Cecil Eseikhaigbe, the Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, Hon. Orobosa Omo Ojo and Dr Emmanuel Paddy among others.
In the same vein, Lucky Ohimai aka Tarex, Dr. Ernest Afolabi while Hon. Felix Aganbi and Felix Osaro are not left out of the squad having both recently returned from foreign trials in Afghanistan and Iraq respectively.
Meanwhile, football fans across Benin City and it’s environs have been urged to come out in large numbers to support the Akpakomiza Team to victory on Sunday.
