The president General, Akwa Ibom community in Edo State , Chief Eddy Ibanga, has lauded the Edo State Government for its kindness and generosity in assisting a young couple from Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Saviour Sunday and Mrs. Beauty Sunday in Edo State.
The couple was in dire need of financial assistance to discharge their newborn baby boy from St. Philomena Hospital in Benin City.
Notably, Mrs. Beauty Sunday has recently been employed as a cleaner under the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The community leader expressed his deepest gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, and the Coordinator Office of the First Lady of Edo State for their benevolent act.
“As a resident of Edo State for over 40 years, I must say that this act of kindness is unprecedented,” he said.
“It is a testament to the compassionate nature of the Edo State Government that they would extend a helping hand to non indigens in need.”
The community leader also extended his appreciation to the Edo State correspondent of “The Pioneer” newspaper for bringing the plight of the couple to the public domain.
“Their reportage helped to mobilize support and assistance for the family,” he said. “I pray that the good Lord will reward them bountifully for their kindness.”
He expressed sincere appreciation to St. Philomena Hospital for providing immediate treatment to the baby without demanding payment upfront, unlike other private hospitals they had visited earlier.
On behalf of the Akwa Ibom community in Edo State, the leader expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed financially and morally to the quick recovery of the baby. “May God bless and reward you all,” he said. “We pray that the baby will live long and grow old enough to be told about this development.
As law-abiding and dutiful indigenous people of Akwa Ibom State living in Edo, we remain grateful and blessed.”
