Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has entered a new era of leadership as Professor Samuel Sunday Olowo assumes the role of Acting Vice Chancellor. At a formal handover ceremony presided over by Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Professor Olowo took over from the outgoing Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Asomwan Sunnie Adagbonyin.

Dr. Odafen, in his address, dispelled rumors surrounding the departure of Professor Adagbonyin, clarifying that he was not removed but stepped aside to make way for fresh leadership. He praised the outgoing team for their efforts, stating, “They have played their roles to the best of their abilities, which is what truly matters.”

As the new Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Olowo—who also serves as the Provost of the College of Medicine—will guide the university through its next phase, which includes overseeing the search for a permanent Vice Chancellor and managing daily operations. In his acceptance speech, Professor Olowo expressed gratitude to the university’s Visitor, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and vowed to work closely with the Governing Council to address the institution’s challenges and rebuild its reputation.

The handover was marked by a symbolic exchange of notes and the signing of official documents, signaling a renewed commitment to leadership and progress at Ambrose Alli University.
