App Launch Helps Buyers Avoid Real Estate Scams

Lagos, Nigeria – 1st Choice Properties has unveiled a mobile application aimed at promoting secure and transparent real estate transactions across Nigeria. The app allows users to rent, buy, or lease properties with confidence, minimizing the risk of fraud.

At the Lagos launch, Managing Director Taiwo Oladapo explained that the app features only verified landlords and property owners, ensuring both tenants and landlords are legally protected. “We ensure that all necessary documents are obtained before any payment is made for land or rent. Our goal is to prevent situations where tenants are forced to vacate due to disputes or fraudulent practices,” Oladapo said.

The app comes in response to Nigeria’s multi-billion-naira losses in the property sector, with over ₦100 billion reportedly lost yearly to fake transactions and quack agents. Oladapo added that the platform is backed by a strong legal framework and collaboration with state and federal governments to ensure transparency and accountability in real estate.

General Manager Gbenga Agbana highlighted that the app helps Nigerians identify safe investment opportunities while avoiding disputed properties or assets with legal complications. “Every year, billions are lost to corruption in the housing sector. This app provides a secure way to invest in real estate,” he said.

Both executives emphasized that Nigeria faces a severe housing deficit, with less than 10% of the population owning homes, and weak sector regulation often exposes investors—especially those in the diaspora—to fraudulent schemes. The app is intended to restore confidence in the real estate market, protect investors, and reduce corruption.

1st Choice Properties hopes the app will transform Nigeria’s housing sector, promoting transparency and legal compliance while protecting tenants and property owners alike.
