Ayra Starr, one of Afrobeats’ rising global stars, has announced that she has moved from Nigeria to New York City.
Speaking in a fresh interview with Hot 93.7FM hosts Buck N Regg, the singer explained that she had always felt spiritually aligned with New York.
The 23-year-old added that she made the permanent relocation just a few weeks back.
“I now live in New York, having officially moved less than two months ago. I’m always in New York anyway—it reminds me so much of Lagos. With so many Nigerians here, it truly feels like home.
“I was a bit hesitant about moving initially. I remember being on stage around that time and thinking I might relocate here. It felt like a defining moment, and I realized I really like it here.
“I know why I’m here. I know my priorities. Most importantly, I’m here to have a good time.”
