Bandits have reportedly abducted 20 farmers, including four pregnant women and several children, in Unguwan-Kawo, Erena Ward, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to residents who spoke with Daily Trust, the victims were seized from their rice farm around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. One local, who asked to remain anonymous, revealed that his nephew was among those kidnapped. He noted that the farm is located just 500 meters from Erena town, which hosts a nearby military camp.
This attack comes only six days after 300 students, pupils, and staff were abducted from St. Mary Secondary and Primary School in Papiri, Agwara LGA, highlighting a rising trend of insecurity in the state.
When contacted, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, said the report would be verified
