The Honourable Commissioner for the Edo State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Bisi Idaomi Esq. has held a strategic meeting with the Conference of Non-Governmental Organisations (CONGOs) and leaders of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to strengthen collaboration and discuss CSO registration.
Dr. Idaomi commended the President of CONGOs, Comrade Dr. Bartholomew Okoudo, for his dedication to serving vulnerable groups and persons with disabilities. She described CSOs and NGOs as key stakeholders and strategic partners of the Edo State Government, noting that their grassroots reach and expertise are vital to delivering humanitarian interventions and ensuring government programmes reach vulnerable citizens.
She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to partnering with credible organisations in advancing social protection, poverty alleviation, and community development in line with the SHINE Agenda of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The President of CONGOs, Comrade Dr. Bartholomew Okoudo, thanked the Honourable Commissioner for her support and commitment to the humanitarian sector.
He disclosed that the meeting attracted over 40 organisations and representatives of more than 50 associations across Edo State, representing over 80% of organisations operating within the humanitarian space across the three senatorial districts.
He expressed confidence that the renewed partnership between the Government and civil society organisations would strengthen humanitarian service delivery and improve the lives of vulnerable people across Edo State.
