Brazilian officials have drawn a hard line ahead of Kanye West’s (Ye’s) November 29 concert in São Paulo: any Nazi imagery or performance of his inflammatory track “Heil Hitler” will trigger immediate arrest.
The São Paulo State Prosecutor’s Office received a complaint on November 11 from Councilwoman Cris Monteiro, urging Ye’s detention for promoting Nazi ideology. Prosecutor Ana Beatriz Pereira de Souza Frontini swiftly banned swastikas, Nazi salutes, or fascist apparel at the event.
Mayor Ricardo Nunes echoed the threat, deploying police to nab Ye, attendees, or even promoters Guilherme Cavalcante and Jean Fabrício Ramos for “apology for Nazism” or fascist justification—potentially charging them with racism and moral damages under Brazilian law. Nunes vowed: “We will not allow events by people who promote Nazism in municipal spaces.”
Tickets persist on sale via platforms like StubHub, but venue hunts continue amid the backlash—no cancellations yet. This follows Ye’s “repentance tour,” including a recent prayer session with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, where he sought forgiveness for antisemitic rants.
Brazil’s message is crystal: Cross the line, and the show’s over—in cuffs.
