By Josh Benedict
The Edo State Government has reinstated Dr. Samson Osagie, the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, following his exoneration by an investigative panel probing allegations of financial misconduct.
In a letter dated March 12, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the state government confirmed that Dr. Osagie has been cleared of all allegations and is to resume his duties with immediate effect.
The letter, referenced SGA. 15/VOL.XVIII/215, stated: “Having considered the report of the Investigative Panel set up by the Government to investigate allegations of financial infractions reported against you, which has exonerated you from the said allegations, I write to convey the directive of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, that you resume duties as the State Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice with effect from 12th March, 2025.”
Edo State Government had in February announced the suspension of Samson Osagie, and the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani over allegation of financial infractions.
The suspension, which took immediate effect, was pending the conclusion of an investigation into the allegations
The investigative panel, constituted by the state government, was tasked with examining the allegations levelled against Dr. Osagie. After a thorough review, the panel found no evidence to substantiate the claims, paving the way for his reinstatement.
