Gunmen have abducted fifteen farmers from the Ungwan Nungu community in Bokana Ward, located in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, worsening growing concerns over rural insecurity in the region.
The kidnapping incident, which occurred on Saturday, November 29, 2025, happened as the victims were returning home from their farmlands—an increasingly common danger faced by farmers in northern Nigeria.
Confirming the attack in a statement on Tuesday, December 2, the Member of the House of Representatives for Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Daniel Amos, condemned the act, describing it as “cruel, senseless and deeply regrettable.”
Amos emphasized that the Kaduna kidnapping highlights the escalating security challenges confronting rural communities. He urged residents of Ungwan Nungu and surrounding areas to remain calm, avoid retaliation, and maintain cooperation with security operatives.
The lawmaker called for a coordinated security response to secure the safe release of the abducted farmers. He appealed for heightened vigilance, intelligence sharing, and community support to assist ongoing investigations.
“This heartbreaking incident is another painful reminder of the insecurity that innocent citizens continue to face in their daily struggle for survival,” Amos stated.
“Targeting peaceful, hardworking community members is unacceptable. Our people deserve to live without fear.”
He further urged security agencies to intensify surveillance and launch intelligence-driven operations to locate the kidnapped victims and arrest the perpetrators behind the Ungwan Nungu attack.
Addressing the families of the abducted individuals, Amos assured them of his support and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the victims are safely reunited with their loved ones.
The lawmaker concluded by stressing that the safety and wellbeing of Sanga LGA residents remain a top priority, expressing confidence that with unity and resilience, the community will overcome this difficult period and restore peace.
