In a move to bolster grassroots security, Hon. Bright Aitenguoba Iyamu, member representing Orhionmwon South Constituency, yesterday donated a Toyota Sienna patrol van, state-of-the-art security gadgets—including bulletproof vests and drone —and oversaw the refurbishment of the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) secretariat in Orhionmwon Local Government Area.
Hon. Iyamu explained that the new vehicle and equipment will enable local operatives to respond more swiftly to incidents, while the upgraded facility offers a safer, more functional workspace for officers. “Security is the bedrock of progress,” he said. “We cannot allow politics or personal interests to cloud our duty to protect lives and livelihoods. I’m proud to align with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to keeping Edo State safe.”
At the handover ceremony, ESSN Orhionmwon Commandant, Mr. Charles Nehizena thanked Hon. Iyamu for his “relentless support and genuine concern for community well-being,” adding that the investment would “rejuvenate our morale and sharpen our operational capacity.”
The State Commander of the ESSN, Retired CSP Richard Balogun, reflected on the significance of the refurbished secretariat. “Today signifies more than just the opening of a building; it symbolizes our collective commitment to growth, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence,” he remarked.
Also present, DPO Greg Agbi of the Ugo Division urged ESSN officers to “remain diligent, embrace teamwork, and maintain close collaboration with sister security agencies.” He noted that synchronized efforts were essential for a safer Orhionmwon.
The Acting Chairman of Orhionmwon LGA, Rt. Hon. Daniel Osariemen, expressed the local government’s gratitude. “This generous donation will go a long way in enhancing security and curbing crime in our communities,” he said. “We look forward to seeing these new resources put to work for the benefit of every resident.”
With this gesture, Hon. Iyamu has reinforced the state government’s strategy to prioritize security and ensure that every citizen in Orhionmwon can live and work without fear.
