Bright Iyamu recounts One year of Representing Orhionmwon South at EDHA

Hon. Bright Aitenguoba Iyamu, the Member Representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, has clocked a year in office.

His tenure has been marked by significant achievements that address critical issues such as, infrastructure development, security, education, and empowerment to his constituency.

Shortly after his inauguration, Iyamu prioritized addressing water scarcity by commissioning a borehole water project in Evboesi Community. This project has provided much-needed relief to residents who had struggled with limited access to clean water.

On the legislative front, Iyamu moved a motion for the urgent rehabilitation of the Benin-Abraka road, which had been in a deplorable state. He is pleased to announce that contractors are now on-site, making the road motorable and ensuring safer, more efficient travel for the community.

In response to security concerns, particularly in Ugu Ward 09, Iyamu presented a petition regarding the nefarious activities of Fulani herdsmen in the Oben – Iguelaba communities. He visited the families affected by these attacks, provided support and urged the Edo State Government to deploy police and other security agencies to address the menace.

Empowerment initiatives have also been a key focus of Iyamu’s tenure. He distributed motorcycles to constituents, serving both as security utility and means for commercial activities, thereby boosting the livelihood of the beneficiaries.

Education has remained a priority for Iyamu. Through his “Back to School” project, he distributed stationery to over five thousand (5,000) primary school students across the six wards of Orhionmwon South.

Additionally, he facilitated free JAMB registration for students, easing the financial burden on families and encouraging higher education.

To support local businesses, Iyamu distributed POS machines to constituents, enhancing their capacity to conduct transactions and improve their economic standing.

Addressing power supply, Iyamu ensured the installation of High voltage step-down transformer is in veiw.The transformer in Ogan Community, Abiokula Ward One. This project is part of a broader plan to electrify parts of Ugboko Ward, starting from the Iguododo axis. The transformer, sourced from Agbor, Delta State, is the highest Alternating Current (AC) power supply in Orhionmwon and will support other areas through a new distribution line structure.

Hon. Bright Aitenguoba Iyamu’s first year in office has been marked by dedicated service and impactful initiatives that have significantly improved the lives of his constituents.

His efforts in infrastructure, security, education, and economic empowerment demonstrate his commitment to addressing the needs of Orhionmwon South Constituency and fostering sustainable development. As he reflects on his accomplishments, Iyamu remains committed to continuing his work to bring about positive change and development for his constituency.
