Coordinator, Office of the First Lady Engages Uwesan Daughters, Wives on Development, Cultural Values

The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has welcomed the Uwesan Daughters and Wives to the Government House, Edo State. The delegation visited to congratulate Mrs. Anani on her appointment.

Addressing the group, Mrs. Anani expressed her gratitude and joy at their visit. She emphasized the significance of their support, stating, “I am delighted to have my sisters and co-wives here with me. Charity begins at home, and having my people welcome me assures me that a substantial part of the work is already accomplished.”

Speaking on behalf of the forum, its President, Mrs. Augusta Obhajaje, extended heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Anani in the Esan language. She highlighted the group’s pride in having one of their own in such a leadership position and offered prayers for wisdom and success in her tenure.

Mrs. Obhajaje also appealed for inclusivity in state empowerment initiatives and employment opportunities, urging the First Lady to consider the forum members and their children in such programs. She reiterated their commitment to supporting Mrs. Anani’s initiatives.

In response, Mrs. Anani reassured the group of the administration’s dedication to the Uwesan people, affirming that they are a priority. *”Uwesan is an integral part of this administration’s agenda. In due time, you will witness the plans in place for our people. Esan individuals are known for their intelligence, hard work, and resilience worldwide. Our women embody these qualities, and I am committed to supporting and creating opportunities for them,”* she assured.

She further emphasized the importance of education and cultural preservation, urging mothers to instill discipline and moral values in their children. “It is our responsibility to guide our children. The Bible says, ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’ We must counter the rising societal vices, including cultism, by nurturing responsible and hardworking individuals who will make us proud globally,”she stated.

Mrs. Anani also reiterated that the government, under the leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo, remains committed to the welfare and inclusion of the Uwesan people in state affairs.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a portrait gift to Mrs. Anani, who expressed her appreciation for the thoughtful gesture.
