Coordinator Office Of The First Lady, NDLEA Partners to Tackle Drug Abuse

The Coordinator Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs Edesili Anani has called for stakeholders cooperation on efforts aimed at combating illicit drugs and substance abuse .
Mrs Anani made the plea during a meeting with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command at Government House, Benin City.
She highlighted dangers associated with the use of illicit substances and stressed the need for collective action to build a healthy society.
The Commander of Narcotics, NDLEA Edo State Command, Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju, said drug abuse was a significant problem in Nigeria, affecting people across various age groups, gender, social statuses and religions.
He further announced the launch of an anti-drug abuse marathon race for secondary schools in the State, tagged , Governor Monday Okpebholo’s Anti-Drug Abuse Marathon Race designed to sensitize youths and equip them with essential knowledge on dangers of drug abuse.
The Governor Monday Okpebholo’s Anti-Drug Abuse Marathon Race, would be held in three phases within Edo State with prizes to the winners.
