Coordinator Office Of The First Lady Urges Collective Action on World Food Day

As the world commemorates World Food Day, the Coordinator Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has called on the good people of Edo State to prioritize sustainable food systems and collaborative efforts to ensure a food-secure future.
The 2025 theme, ‘Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,’ was discussed during an interactive session at Government House, Benin City.
According to Mrs. Anani, collective action is crucial in addressing the pressing issues of food security, nutrition, and sustainability.
She reiterated Governor Monday Okpebholo commitment to working with all stakeholders to achieve a food-secure Edo State, where everyone has access to nutritious food and a healthy environment.
Citing statistics, Mrs. Anani noted that over the last decade, fruit and vegetable output has increased significantly, highlighting the potential for agriculture to drive economic growth and improve livelihoods.
However, she emphasized that more needs to be done to ensure equitable access to nutritious food, particularly for vulnerable populations.
The Coordinator urged residents of Edo State to embrace sustainable agricultural practices, reduce food waste, and support local farmers to enhance food security.
As Edo State joins the rest of the world to mark World Food Day, Mrs. Anani’s call to action serves as a reminder of the importance of working together to access a sustainable food systems.
