Tory Lanez and his attorney, Crystal Morgan, have been found in contempt of court for disruptive behavior during a deposition tied to Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit against YouTube blogger Milagro Gramz.
The ruling, issued by U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisette M. Reid on November 17, 2025, stems from a deposition conducted on November 14 at the facility where Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) is incarcerated. This marked the third attempt by Megan’s legal team to question him about his alleged involvement in spreading false information about the 2020 shooting incident, in which Lanez was convicted of assaulting Megan with a firearm.
According to the court order, Lanez began the session by inquiring about potential penalties for non-compliance. Upon learning he could face contempt charges, sanctions, and additional jail time, he reportedly shrugged it off, stating, “Whatever the fines are, I’ll pay them. I’m a millionaire. I don’t care.” He then refused to respond to even basic queries, such as whether he had communicated with Gramz via Instagram or text messages.
Tensions escalated when Lanez dismissed Megan’s lawyers, telling them to “calm down” and “relax,” before labeling one a “liar.” He abruptly exited the room, claiming he hadn’t been provided all intended exhibits in advance. Though he briefly returned, Lanez grew agitated again, directed derogatory remarks and expletives at the attorneys, and stormed out for good without answering further.
Morgan faced similar criticism for repeatedly objecting to relevant questions about Lanez’s interactions with Gramz. The judge noted her “lengthy speaking objections” and attempts to coach the witness, even after being instructed to stop. She failed to direct her client to answer any of the plaintiff’s queries, despite rulings in their favor.
Prior deposition efforts fared no better. The first, lasting just 44 minutes, ended after Lanez insulted the questioning attorney. In the second, he defiantly remarked, “I’ve got jail for 10 years right now. You can do whatever you’d like to do,” upon hearing the repercussions for evasion.
As penalties, Lanez must pay a $20,000 fine, while Morgan is ordered to cover $5,000. The judge also recommended that the jury in the ongoing trial—set to begin November 17 in Miami federal court—be instructed that Lanez was posed key questions but refused to answer and terminated the session prematurely.
The lawsuit, filed in October 2024, accuses Gramz of acting as a “mouthpiece” for Lanez by disseminating conspiracy theories, false narratives, and AI-generated explicit content about Megan, resulting in emotional distress, reputational damage, and lost business opportunities. A gag order remains in effect.
Lanez, currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting that injured Megan’s foot during an argument following a party at Kylie Jenner’s home, had sought a protective order in October to avoid further questioning. His appeals in the criminal case were recently denied.
