Deadly parking dispute: Driver kills Lagos realtor

BY Peter

A 36-year-old realtor, Yinka Agboola, has died after a driver allegedly ran him over during an argument over a parking space at Royal Pine Estate, Orchid Road, Lekki, Lagos State.

According to social media reports, the driver had previously been offered an alternative parking spot after residents found his vehicle blocking the road. He reportedly became hostile and threatened one of the residents, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

Agboola, who also lived in the estate, intervened during the scuffle. Witnesses said the driver then got into his vehicle and, instead of leaving, allegedly drove forward and reversed aggressively. Agboola tried to restrain him but was dragged and thrown violently onto a pavement and into a gutter, leaving him unconscious.

CCTV footage reportedly shows a white Mercedes-Benz reversing dangerously as it attempted to hit a group of people, including Agboola.

Residents rushed him to the hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, but he later died from his injuries.

Agboola’s sister, Agboola Oluwadamilola, confirmed the incident was reported to the Ajah police station, though the suspect remains at large. Social media users have circulated the vehicle’s number plate to help authorities track him down.

The incident highlights growing tensions over neighborhood parking disputes. A similar case occurred in April 2023, when a 41-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 33-year-old neighbor to death during a disagreement over parking in First Unity Estate, Badore, Ajah.
