Edesili Anani Welcomes Defectors From Opposition Parties, Rallies Support For Ikpea

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Anani, has visited Uwesan Community in Irrua, Edo State, in continuation of her support to mobilize votes for Hon. Joseph Ikpea, the candidate of the All Progressive Party APC in the forthcoming By-elections for the vacant Edo Central Senatorial Seat in the National Assembly.

 

At the Ward Two Secretariat in Ujabhole Uwesan, Irrua, Mrs. Anani welcomed women, who defected from the opposition political parties, with the assurances that their interests would be well represented by the Ruling Party’s Candidate. While appreciating women who attended the event, including the defectors, she reaffirmed the Edo State Government’s commitment to supporting and empowering women in the State.

 

The Coordinator, solicited votes for Hon. Ikpea in the Senatorial By-election schedule for the 16th August, 2025, ephasizing that the Party’s Candidate is the best for the role, and that a vote for him would be a vote for Governor Monday Okpebholo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 

She added that their votes would translate to provision of basic amenities such as quality water supply, good education, good road networks, and empowerment for women, assuring the defectors that they had made the right decision and would be carried along in the programmes of the administration including empowerment.

 

One of the defectors and former Unit Leader of the opposition party, Mrs. Esther Ugberase, expressed her disappointment with her former Party, stating that she had never benefited from it till the time of her defection, and appreciated the warm reception from the Ruling Party.

 

The beneficiaries of the various empowerment programmes initiated by the Governor Okpebholo-led administration through the Office of the First Lady, expressed gratitude for the various items they had received, including gas cookers, deep freezers, grinding machines, generators, and agricultural inputs.

 

The event concluded with the donation of gifts to women, including bags of rice, fabrics and cash, by Mrs. Anani, which was greeted with appreciation.
