The Director General of the Edo Health Insurance Commission, Mrs. Augusta Ikpea Enaholo, has concluded a facility tour to Edo North, as part of efforts to assess and improve healthcare services in the region. This visit follows a similar tour to Edo Central about three weeks ago.

In her address to the staff at the EDHIC Center, Up Garage, Auchi, headed by Dr. Momodu Mustapha Oyakhaimoh, Mrs. Enaholo emphasized the importance of developing existing healthcare infrastructure and implementing efficient enrollment processes. “I have come here to see what is on ground and how we can improve on what is already on ground. It is not going to be business as usual.”

Mrs. Enaholo reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to provide healthcare services to vulnerable citizens, including the formal sector and other segments of the society. She also mentioned how they had recently concluded a 100-day enrollment event, which coincided with the Governor’s 100th day in office.

She added that “The Governor has approved healthcare services for pensioners, and the administration has ensured that Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities are well-equipped. There are also plans to establish additional PHCs to increase access to healthcare services.”

Mrs. Enaholo encouraged the staff to keep up their good work, highlighting the importance of having the right tools and equipment to support their efforts and ensure success.

Dr. Mustapha expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Enaholo for her thoughtful and responsive approach to the center’s needs, particularly for providing a water dispenser and other essential amenities that enhance their working environment.

The staff however, expressed concerns about the challenges they’re facing and appealed for support to enhance their capabilities. Specifically, they requested additional resources, including essential work tools like laptops, webcams, and logistics, amongst others to facilitate their work more efficiently.

The EDOHIS (Edo State Health Insurance Scheme) facilities visited during the tour included the Edo State University Teaching Hospital, headed by the Chief Managing Director, Dr. Moses Imologomhe, who was represented by the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Tijani Oseni, who commended the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration’s initiatives to improve healthcare for Edo residents. Additionally, the Usokwili Primary Health Care Center was also visited.
