Edo 2024: Akpata vows to transform Edo Educational system, Infrastructure

The gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Edo State, Olumide Akpata, emphasized his commitment to improving critical sectors such as education and infrastructure within a year if elected.
In a press briefing at the NUJ Press Centre in Benin City on Thursday 5th July, 2024, he highlighted the importance of upgrading educational facilities, noting that “the environment for learning is as important as learning itself.” Better facilities can enhance the educational experience and outcomes for students.
He also plans to address the recruitment and retention of teachers, acknowledging their crucial role in the educational system. Ensuring that schools are adequately staffed with qualified and motivated teachers is essential for effective learning.
He further stated his intention to continue with projects already started if elected into office, ensuring continuity and further development. He emphasized that prioritizing the welfare of the citizens in Edo State would be central to his administration, focusing on policies and initiatives that directly benefit the populace.
Akpata reassured his actions plans to work on improving the road infrastructure in the state, whether state roads or federal roads, recognizing their direct impact on the citizens and residents. Good road is crucial for transportation, economic activities, and overall quality of life he added.
