Edo Assembly Speaker tasks Journalists on balance reportage

The Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku has urged journalists in the state to endeavor to balance their reports before dissemination.

 

The speaker stated this when he received the members of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Edo state chapter led by the Chairperson, Adesuwa Ehimuan at his office.

 

 

Welcoming the NAWOJ delegation, Hon. Agbebaku commended them and also acknowledged their vital role at the hallowed chamber.

 

The speaker appealed to the women journalists to encourage and support young girls to actualize their dreams and aspirations in their various careers.

 

He assured them of the House support to the planned International Women’s Day Celebration which is slated to take place in the state.

 

The international women’s day which is a collaboration with other professional women groups in Edo State is scheduled to take place on the March 28th at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy JOOPSA with other lined up activities for the year 2024.

 

On her part, Edo state Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Adesuwa Ehimuan informed the speaker of the Association’s activities in the state while also commending the house of assembly for the recent summoning of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to answer questions over difficulties by members of the public in getting the National Identification Number (NIN).

 

She praised the House for passing over thirty (30) people Oriented resolutions to its credit including tackling Federal Ministry Of Works (FERM) over the state of federal roads in the state .

 

The House has passed several bills which includes Budget 2024, Fisheries Bill, Autonomy for Legislature and Judiciary.

Adesuwa Ehimuan further said the house standing Committees has been very active and functional, especially the House Committee on Works and Public Utilities, chaired by member representing Orhionmwon South Constituency, Hon. Bright Aitenguoba Iyamu.

 

The performance of the house of Assembly has been tremendously outstanding and commendable, with maximum cooperation amongst the honourable members, she added.

 

Members present at the visit were Deputy speaker Mrs Maria Edeko and member representing Egor constituency Natasha Osawaru, amongst others.

 

Highpoints of the event was the presentation of customized picture frame to the speaker and a picture section.
