The Coordinator Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has commended women in Edo South for their unwavering support since the inception of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, while urging sustained unity and increased women’s participation in governance.
She made the remarks while hosting a delegation of Edo South APC women leaders, led by the Senatorial Women Leader, Lady (Mrs.) Inneh Vivian Ibie, during a courtesy visit to Government House, Benin City.
Mrs. Anani praised the women for their commitment and called for continued collaboration across the three senatorial districts, emphasizing the need for unity to achieve meaningful development.

“The three senatorial districts are one. If we do not work together in unity, we cannot make progress or reap the benefits of development,” she said. “We are here because of the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Our collective goal is to ensure his success, and we must not allow division among us.”
She assured the women of her continued support, stressing that empowerment should be holistic.
“As much as I can, I will support any woman who seeks support. Women’s empowerment goes beyond financial assistance; it must be comprehensive covering capacity building, opportunities, and representation,” she added.
Mrs. Anani also advocated stronger sisterhood among women, describing it as essential for progress. “Let us build sisterhood among ourselves, because that is the only way we can move forward,” she said.
She further called for greater representation of women in government and encouraged women to support one another in politics, urging leaders to mobilize, empower, and show compassion to women at the grassroots.
In her remarks, the All Progressive Congress APC Edo South Senatorial Women Leader, Lady (Mrs.) Inneh Vivian Ibie, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her commitment to women’s inclusion in the state.
“On behalf of the women of Edo South APC, we express our heartfelt appreciation for your dedication to women in Edo State. You are our mother, and we are your children. Since you assumed office, we have felt your support and inclusion. You are warm, approachable, and accommodating to all,” she said.
She reaffirmed the group’s readiness to work with the First Lady and pledged their total loyalty, urging her to continue to carry them along. She added that the impact of the First Lady’s Office is being felt across the length and breadth of Edo State.
