The Chairman of the Independent National Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, Tuesday morning visited the stores of four local government areas (LGAs) in Edo state to inspect non sensitive materials preparatory to Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The 3-day assessment visit first took Prof Yakubu to INEC office at Ikpoba-Okha LGA where he was taken on the tour of the store by the Commission’s State Electoral Officer (EO) Mr. James Gamble who also answered questions posed by the Chairman on the preparedness of his office for the forthcoming governorship election.
Yakubu and his entourage including the Edo state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Anugbum Onuoha, some INEC National Commissioners and top management staff visited Egor LGA where the EO Mr. Boma Bamson conducted them round the office complex and showed him the none sensitive materials ready for deployment for the election.
At the Oredo INEC office, the Chairman was conducted to the office building by the Electoral Officer Mrs Benedette Udoh, who told the INEC chairman that the ballot boxes were well labelled.
In most of the areas visited, the INEC chairman was taken to their stores and places where non sensitive materials such as bags, ballot boxes, stickers for ballot boxes, generators, aprons, among other items stored.
Other areas visited by the INEC boss was the mock accreditation venues in Idia College Iyaro in Oredo local government area and Western Boys High School Ikpoba Okha.
