EDO Guber: NUJ, NEDG Organises Gubernatorial Debate

Political parties and their candidates have been selected to participate in the Edo 2024 Governorship debate by the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ and the Nigeria Election Debate Group NEDG.
The selection followed an online poll, where the Candidate of the APC Monday Okpebolo, LP, Olumide Apkata, PDP, Asuen Ighodalo and PRP Patience Ididi-key emerged to stand for the debate.
Briefing journalists at the NUJ Secretariat in Benin, Chairman of the committee, Mrs Bisi Akpiada explained that the process of choosing the 4 candidates to stand for the debate out of the 17 candidates for the election was purely based on an online voting process.
On his part, Executive Secretary NEDG Mr. Eddie Emessiri as well as a National Trustee of the NUJ Mrs Abimbola Oyetunde commended Edo NUJ for being the first council to partner NEDG to organize a state Governorship debate, by providing the right platform for those seeking to govern.
In his comment, the state Chairman of NUJ Comrade Festus Alenkhe called on the 4 selected political parties and their candidates to take advantage of the platform to reach out to the people.
He noted that the event would be broadcast live on all BON Affiliate stations as well as various online media.
The Edo 2024 Election Debate will be held on Sunday the 15th of September and is strictly by invitation.
