Edo Police Arrest 18-Year-Old for Attempted Theft of Artifacts Worth ₦500 Million, Citing “Charm” Immobilization; Additional Suspects Detained in Separate Incident

The Edo state command of the Nigerian Police has arrested an 18 year old boy Usman Adamu for attempted stealing of artifacts worth about five hundred million naira in the home of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion in Benin City
The suspect confessed that he was immobilized and could not move to escape from the property by a charm untill the police came to arrest him.
According to the public relations officer of the command SP Moses Yamu, the suspect was apprehended on July 23, 2024, around 1:30 AM.
Adamu’s arrest led to the capture of a second suspect, 36-year-old Etuk Bassey, who was identified as the driver responsible for transporting the stolen artifacts.
Both suspects have confessed to the crime, and police efforts to apprehend other accomplices are ongoing.
In a separate incident, police operatives also arrested two other suspects, 27 years old Mustapha Suleiman, and 25 years old Isaac Joseph, who were found in possession of a stolen Toyota Rav 4 with registration number EKY 855 JJ.
The vehicle was reportedly stolen from Lagos State, and the Lagos State Command has been notified for further investigation.
