Edo State FADAMA CARES Distributes Assets, Inputs to 437 Beneficiaries

The Edo State FADAMA CARES project, under the renewed hope agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo, distributed agricultural produce and equipment to 437 beneficiaries on Thursday at Udomi Primary School, Udomi Community, Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo State.

In her opening remarks, the Coordinator Office of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Anani Edesili Okpebholo, highlighted the initiative’s objectives, including enhancing food security, improving livelihoods, and empowering farmers, particularly women and youth. She urged beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity to increase productivity, income, and overall well-being.

The State Project Coordinator Hon. Ali Ibrahim stated that the exercise aimed to support the recovery and resilience of the rural economy, particularly in the face of economic and environmental challenges.

The distribution included inputs for cassava production, such as improved cassava cuttings, fertilizers, and herbicides, as well as equipment like cassava milling machines, tricycles, and power tillers.

Hon. Ibrahim emphasized that the initiative was designed to strengthen the livelihoods of farmers, agripreneurs, and vulnerable groups who form the backbone of food production in the state.

The Special Adviser on Agriculture, Hon. Golden Ogbodu, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Sunday Osayande, also urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided, emphasizing that it was an opportunity to scale up production, improve livelihoods, and eradicate hunger and poverty in the state.

The Edo State FADAMA CARES project is a vital initiative that aims to improve the livelihoods of farmers and agripreneurs in the state. The distribution of assets and inputs to 437 beneficiaries is a significant step towards achieving the project’s objectives and enhancing the state’s food security and economy.
