The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB) has commenced the kitting and distribution of intervention textbooks and library resources supplied by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for the 2019–2023 intervention years. Under the directive of the Executive Chairman and expertly coordinated by Instructional Material Desk Officers Mr. Fredrick Itsedi and Ms. Peace Okaka of the Department of School Support Services, these long‑awaited materials are now en route to public primary schools across the state.

At Edo SUBEB’s central warehouse in Benin City, Mr. Itsedi and Ms. Okaka have overseen the meticulous sorting, verification, and packaging of core subject textbooks—including English, Mathematics, Basic Science, and Social Studies—as well as complementary library resources designed to foster a culture of reading among learners. Each package is matched to the precise needs of individual schools, based on the latest enrollment data provided by local government education authorities.
Priority in the initial phase has been given to rural and semi‑urban communities where shortages have been most acute. “Our goal is equity,” said Ms. Okaka. “By aligning every consignment with accurate school data, we ensure that resources reach those who need them most.”
To guarantee safe and timely delivery, Edo SUBEB partnered with reputable logistics firms.
Under the visionary leadership of the Executive Chairman and the hands‑on coordination of Mr. Itsedi and Ms. Okaka, Edo SUBEB’s kitting and distribution initiative marks a significant advance in the state’s efforts to improve foundational literacy and numeracy. This concerted effort underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every primary school child in Edo State has access to the essential learning tools they need to succeed.
