An Enugu State Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of 51-year-old Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu, a member of a neighbourhood security watch group, for the alleged murder of his 19-year-old female cousin, Loveth Uloma Nwangwu, in the Nsukka Local Government Area.
According to SP Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, Nwangwu was arraigned on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, following the conclusion of investigations by the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID).
The arraignment was conducted under the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, who had ordered a thorough investigation after the suspect was arrested on December 1, 2025, in Nsukka. The arrest followed a violent attack on the deceased, which resulted in injuries that led to her tragic death.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred days after Loveth Uloma Nwangwu accused Nwangwu of long-term sexual abuse and threats to her life. Upon his arrest, CP Giwa instructed the State CID to conduct a meticulous investigation and ensure that the case was promptly charged to court.
“Consequently, the suspect has been arraigned before the Enugu State Magistrate Court on a one-count charge of murder,” SP Ndukwe stated.
The court has ordered Nwangwu’s remand and directed that the case file be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice through the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for review and legal advice. CP Giwa expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, emphasizing that justice is in motion.
Earlier this year, Nwangwu was appointed Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ibeku Opi. The police have assured the public that the investigation was conducted diligently and that the legal process will continue under the guidance of the DPP.
