Ex-Chelsea Star Oscar Discharged From Hospital After Heart Scare

Former Chelsea and Brazil midfielder Oscar has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted last week for a heart-related issue.

The 34-year-old São Paulo FC star became unwell during pre-season medical tests at the club’s training facility on Tuesday, which led to urgent medical evaluation.

According to a statement reported by BBC Sport, São Paulo confirmed that Oscar was released from Einstein Hospital Israelita on Sunday and remained “stable and clinically well” throughout his stay.

Doctors revealed that the midfielder experienced vasovagal syncope, a common fainting episode triggered by a sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure.

São Paulo FC added that Oscar will follow a short medical rest programme over the coming days as part of his recovery plan.

Oscar, who began his career at São Paulo, returned to the club last year on a three-year contract running through 2027 after spending eight seasons playing in China.
