Simeonidis, an award-winning teacher, graduated last year from the Russian State Pedagogical University, one of Russia’s top institutions for teacher training. She previously received a presidential medal and a certificate signed by Vladimir Putin for her contributions to the 2024 World Youth Festival. Simeonidis worked at Gymnasium No. 74 in St. Petersburg, which she described as “my second home.” Her mother told Russian media: “We cannot comment. Unfortunately, the investigation is ongoing.”

The case has attracted widespread attention due to Simeonidis’ decorated status and the serious nature of the allegations. Authorities have emphasized that child protection and safeguarding remain a top priority while the investigation continues.

In a separate incident in the United States, a physical education teacher at Central Pointe Christian Academy in Florida was arrested for sending inappropriate material to a 13-year-old student. Detectives recovered texts, videos, and photographs sent by Yezmar Angeanis Ramos-Figueroa after the teen’s mother raised the alarm.

The teacher faces charges for distributing obscene material to a minor and transmitting harmful content. Officials described the communications as “obscene material sent to a minor and inappropriate texting back and forth,” highlighting concerns over student safety and online predatory behavior.

Both cases underscore the ongoing need for vigilance in educational environments and the protection of minors from inappropriate conduct by educators.
