Gombe State has achieved a landmark in higher education with the launch of Lincoln University Kumoโthe first foreign university campus in Nigeria under the Trans-National Education (TNE) model. The institution, a partnership between Gombe State Government and Lincoln University College Malaysia, has officially opened its online admission portal for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Originally established in 2017 as Gombe State University of Science and Technology, Kumo, the campus lay dormant until a 2022 MoU revived it as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The National Universities Commission (NUC) granted operational license in November 2025, making it Nigeria’s pioneer TNE institutionโallowing local students to earn internationally recognized Malaysian degrees without traveling abroad.
Admission Highlights & Affordable Fees
Vice-Chancellor Professor Adamu Sadiq Abubakar announced the portal launch, promising qualified applicants admission within five working days.
- Tuition: โฆ100,000โโฆ150,000 per semester.
- Scholarships: Minimum 50% for all Nigerians; up to 60% for Gombe indigenes.
- Intakes: Up to two per year for flexibility.
Lincoln University Malaysia Founder Professor Amiya Bhaumik (via Zoom) called it a “historic moment,” assuring Kumo campus quality matches Malaysia’s headquartersโglobally ranked by Times Higher Education and QS.
Vice President Dr. Murtadho Alao highlighted accreditations and the TNE model’s affordability: “Earn global degrees at homeโjob creators, not seekers.”
Faculties & Programmes on Offer
Three faculties launch operations:
- Medicine and Allied Health Sciences: MBBS/MD, Nursing, Public Health, Radiography, Health Information Management.
- Sciences and Computing: Microbiology, Biochemistry, IT, Cybersecurity.
- Management and Social Sciences: Business Administration, Accounting, Oil & Gas Management, Mass Communication.
Curriculum emphasizes Practical Class Assessment (PCA) and Practical Skill Application (PSA) for employability.
