The Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has constituted a seven-man panel of inquiry to investigate the suspended 18 Local government chairmen and their vice chairmen in the State.
The seven-man panel is headed by Solomon Imohiosen a former Permanent Secretary in the state while Osagie Asabor is the secretary.
Other members are Adaze Andrew Enwanta, Hon Patrick Idiake, Barrister Dorine Eduwui, Barrister Henry Unoakhe Itseuwa and Prince Kassim Afegbua.
The constitution of the panel of inquiry was sequel to the suspension of the 18 Local government chairmen and their vice by the State House of Assembly.
. The state House of Assembly had December 17, 2024 at plenary suspended the 18 Local government chairmen and their vice following a petition written against them by the Governor Monday Okpebholo.
In the petition the governor allegedly accused the councils’ executive of insubordination and gross misconduct.
The governor alleged that the council chairmen refused to submit the financial account statements of their various local government to the State Asset verification committee.
In its resolution, the House suspended the chairmen and Vice for two months.
It, however, directed the legislative leaders of the various local government to take charge the affairs of the council for the next two months.
Recall, the State Governor Monday Okpebholo had December 3, 2024 gave 48-hours to submit statements of account to Assets Verification Committee.
Okpebholo directed the council chairmen to submit the statements of account to the Assets Verification Committee, through the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
He said the statement of accounts should be effective from September 4, 2023 till date.
He said the statements of account would help and enable the Assets Verification Committee do its job effectively and efficiently.
