Governor Adeleke Defends Policies, Claims His Administration Is Improving Lives Despite APC Attacks

By Comfort Asemota

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has stated that his administration has positively transformed the lives of residents since assuming office three years ago.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun had accused the governor of plunging the state into “systemic failure,” citing the prolonged judiciary strike and other alleged governance lapses.

In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke dismissed the APC’s claims, insisting that his government has delivered impactful governance across all sectors. He maintained that Osun people have enjoyed improved welfare, infrastructure upgrades, and renewed economic prospects under his leadership.

According to Rasheed, the administration’s achievements, including major infrastructure projects, have surpassed the expectations of critics. He noted that the governor’s focus on citizens’ welfare remains a core pillar of his “transformational leadership.”

“In Osun State today, it is beyond argument that Governor Adeleke has delivered for the people. The signs of good governance are evident everywhere, and residents are acknowledging the remarkable progress achieved,” Rasheed said.

He criticized the APC for what he described as a refusal to accept the administration’s successes, pointing out that the opposition party failed when previously entrusted with power in the state.

Rasheed highlighted several achievements of the Adeleke administration, including clearing accumulated wage arrears, improving workers’ career progression, facilitating bond payments for pensioners, and introducing a first-of-its-kind expansive healthcare coverage for retirees.

He added that the state has witnessed unprecedented infrastructure growth, with new bridges, extensive road projects, upgraded healthcare facilities meeting WHO standards, and renovations of public school buildings.

The spokesperson also noted that the government recently procured 31 new tractors to support farmers and boost food production — a purchase he claimed the APC never made in its 12 years in power.

Rasheed dismissed criticisms from APC chieftain Sunday Akere, arguing that Akere’s political history renders his assessments unreliable. He maintained that the current administration’s performance has been “superlative” compared to past governments.
