The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member representing Esan South East constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunny Ojezele, said going back to the All Progressives Congress (APC), was to pay his debt owes the party.
Addressing Journalists during his defection at the APC party’s secretariat in Benin, Ojezele said having been a member of the APC in his first term, leaving it for the PDP then, he felt that he was not fair to the party that brought him into the house of assembly and he feels that he owes them a debt that he needed to pay.
“I am a ranking member of the House of Assembly and by the grace of God, this is my second term in the Edo State House of Assembly.
“I want to start by letting you know that in 2019, I was first elected into the Edo House of Assembly, of course, APC was the platform that brought me and gave me the ladder to go into the State House of Assembly.
“Unfortunately, there were some challenges which led to my exit into PDP in company of the governor.
“For that, I feel that today, I am still indebted to APC because having sponsored me, I was supposed to spend four years with them but I only spent one year, which means I am indebted to them which of course, that is the debt I have come to pay”, Ojezele said.
While stating his reason for porting from his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said the crisis in the PDP has become so irreconcilable that he can no longer cope, therefore he has to find his way to the APC as a party.
“Also, you all are aware according to section 109 sub section 1g, that the only reason you can leave your party is if there is an irreconcilable division which of course everybody is aware today that the party that sponsored my second tenure election which is the PDP is into that particular challenge today which of course has given me a room to come and join the progressive and also paving way for me to come and pay that debt which I have owed them”, Ojezele said.
Receiving the decampee, the APC state chairman, Jarrett Tenebe said the party has always promised to open its door for those who want to join the party to come.
He said it is not the APC’s fault that the PDP as a party is entangled in its internal crisis.
Speaking also, Hon. Sam Oboh, said the presence of Hon. Ojezele in a APC is a plus to the party.
