Iyamu: “I will support, encourage talent development amongst youths”

The lawmaker Representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, (EDHA), Hon. Bright Iyamu, has stated that he would leave no stone unturned at ensuring that discovered talents get the necessary encouragement and support especially amongst Orhionmwon South youths irrespective of location across the globe.

Hon. Iyamu said this yesterday in his Office at the EDHA, when he received in audience Gospel Eghosa Osaro Wonderful, a constituent who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the “Greatest Distance covered on a treadmill” in fourty eight (48) hours.

Osaro, a 29 year old athlete and graduate of computer science from the prestigious National Open University of Nigeria, hails from Ugu ward 09, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.

Osaro, is a disciplined and determined goal getter with over three years experience in athletics.

He has previously participated in some of the biggest World Athletics Gold labelled events in Nigeria, – Okpekpe 10km Road Race (Gold Label Certified Edo State 2016), Abuja City Marathon – FCT, Abuja (2017) ,Access Bank Lagos City Marathon (Gold Label Certified)- Lagos State (2024). Finished 53rd, in 3:10:45., Okpekpe Road Race (Gold Label Certified) – Edo State (2024). Top 15 non ite athletes to cross the finish line, in 40:45 and he emerged victorious.

Iyamu assured Osaro of his unflinching support and equally admonished the youths to be more purpose-driven in refining their God-given talents and potentials, assuring that he remains committed to talent discovery and human capacity development.

The lawmaker encouraged Osaro to work hard to earn the success of the huge task ahead.

In his remarks, Osaro assured Hon. Iyamu that he would do his best to bring the trophy home, adding that he remains committed to making Orhionmwon Council and Edo State proud.

He said “As the event is slated to run from the 15th to 17th August, 2024, I want to assure you that I won’t disappoint the confidence reposed in me, as I hope to bring the trophy home. Your support and that of the entire Orhionmwon and Edo people will be highly appreciated”.

The Team Manager, Comrade Hope Osa Ehibor, further appealed to sports enthusiasts and other stakeholders to support the initiative.

Flomedia report that the attempt is geared towards inspiring young talented individuals that there is no limit to what they can achieve through dedication, resilience, discipline and determination.
